MASTERCLASS
Big Band Arrangement
Turn your ideas into full-scale jazz orchestrations.
This masterclass, led by composer and educator José Pino, guides participants through every stage of writing for big band — from the first melodic idea to a complete, performance-ready score. Combining a practical, hands-on approach with creative exploration, it offers a deep dive into harmony, orchestration, and form within the jazz tradition and beyond.
OVERVIEW
Designed for music schools, conservatories, and cultural institutions, this intensive session offers a clear, structured path to understanding big band writing. While a basic knowledge of music theory is recommended, no prior experience with jazz orchestration is required.

Through real-world materials and collaborative exercises, participants learn to think like arrangers — exploring how brass, woodwinds, and rhythm sections interact to shape the energy and color of a piece. The session concludes with a live concert featuring José Pino’s original works.
