On 26 January 2025, Late Night Trio will kick off the first Zurich Jam Session of the year.

The Zurich music scene is about to get a jolt of creativity! Join us for an exciting Sunday afternoon at the Zurich Jam Session, where the Late Night Trio will bring their unconventional take on some of the most iconic jazz standards. Known for pushing boundaries and challenging traditional interpretations, this trio will breathe new life into the Great American Songbook, setting the stage for an unforgettable jam session.
The Late Night Trio, consisting of Simon Wyrsch (bass clarinet), Dario Bianchin (electric guitar), and Rodrigo Aravena (electric bass), is a formation that defies musical conventions. Each member brings their own unique perspective and sound to the ensemble, creating a fresh, unorthodox interpretation of classic jazz standards. While their repertoire draws heavily from the Great American Songbook, their performance is anything but traditional.
Instead of adhering to the standard arrangements of these beloved tunes, the trio reimagines them with a free, improvisational spirit. Simon's bass clarinet takes on a bold, soulful role, while the electric guitar and electric bass intertwine to create lush, experimental textures. The trio doesn't just play the songs—they transform them, adjusting melodies, harmonies, and rhythms to fit their own artistic vision, making each piece feel completely new.
It’s jazz that’s raw, spontaneous, and deeply inventive. With the trio’s unique instrumentation and playful freedom, you can expect to hear these timeless songs like you’ve never heard them before, drawing on both their structure and an unexpected exploration of sound.
